Adrian Lam on why Hull KR game made him 'angry' and views on Robins' strengths

Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam was "angry" with the way his men dealt with Hull Kingston Rovers' high kicking game and identified it is a strength of the Robins.

Rovers impressively won 24-0 at Leigh, ending a five-game winning run for Lam's resurgent men, who had won nine of the past 10 before losing to Willie Peters' men. A tight opening was finally broken by Rovers scoring tries from high kicks.

Lam said: "We went in 10-0 down at half time against two kicks and we previewed that. I just felt that we stopped moving. It's one of our pillars. I am just really angry that we didn't compete in those moments. You are playing a top-two team and that's enough for them. From that point onwards, it was always going to be a struggle.

"That's what they like. They didn't throw much rugby against us, it was a pretty backwards and forwards sort of game. It was a physical battle where in key moments we stopped moving and that's the game.

"High balls haven't been a problem all year - but it's one of their strengths. The second try just before half-time I thought there was a shepherd in there, that shouldn't have been awarded, it was definitely a no try - but I don't take anything away from Hull KR, they were awesome.

"They've been great all year. We are a bit frustrated when we've played against them - there's space around but they scramble really well as a team, that's one of their strengths. They will be very hard to beat in the games that are left this season."
