Adrien Broner gets shut down by Showtime's Jim Gray after bizarre post-fight rant following Manny Pacquiao defeat

Adrien Broner insisted he should have been awarded the win against Manny Pacquiao in a series of bizarre post-fight rants following his Las Vegas defeat on Saturday.

Pacquiao sealed a unanimous points victory over the brash American at the MGM Grand and the Filipino’s dominance was reflected in the fight stats, landing 112 of 668 punches with Broner throwing 295 - with only 50 hitting the target.

Broner averaged less than eight punches a round, needing a 12th round knockout to win having been on the back foot for most of the contest. But the 29-year-old managed to land just one punch in the final round.

Post-fight, however, he repeatedly insisted he should have been awarded the win. “I controlled the fight. He was missing. I hit him clean more times. I beat him,” Broner said, having raised his hands in victory and climbed the ring ropes in celebration after the final bell.

Showtime’s Jim Gray led the post-fight interview that left so many fight fans bemused with Broner accusing the ringside reporter of rooting against him.

“It already sounds like you was against me,” Broner said. “I did this for the ‘hood, you know I beat that boy. What they are trying to do, they are trying to get that money again for Pacquiao and Floyd [Mayweather] but it’s cool, I ain’t worried about it.”

Gray then pointed out Broner’s recent fight record which includes three wins, three defeats and a draw in his last seven – and no win in his last three.

“I’m 3-3-1 in my last seven but I’ll be 7-0 against you,” Broner told Gray, who found a fine counter punch of his own by responding: “Well that wouldn’t mean much, that’s the end of this interview.”
