Adventure film festival set to make Stirling stop-off for thrill-seeking cinemagoers
A film festival showcasing adventure flicks filmed in some of the planet's most remote regions is set to make a stop-off in Stirling next month.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival will be at the Macrobert on October 20 - with the film programme including features on extreme BASE jumping, paragliding, skiing and more.
The tour films for the festival are chosen from hundreds of entries into the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, which is held every November in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The event is now in its 15th year, with the UK and Ireland tour set to visit more than 50 locations.
Among the highlights include 'Eternal Flame', which features BASE jumpers Éric Jamet and Antoine Pecher as they climb and jump off the Nameless Tower in Pakistan - which is more than 6,000 metres above sea level - to emulate the efforts of original jumpers from the 1990s.
Also featured is 'No Way!', a film by pro paraglider pilot and video-maker Jean Baptiste Chandelier, who specialises in proximity flying: swooping low to the ground and over natural or man-made obstacles.
The film sees 'JB', as he is known, take his unique low-flying, ground-skimming art combining paragliding and filmmaking to a whole new level.
Tour director Nell Teasdale said: “Get ready for an inspirational night of adventure from the wildest corners of the planet!
“With intrepid athletes, spectacular cinematography and a big dose of adrenaline, the Banff Mountain Film Festival stars the best new films from the world’s top adventure filmmakers.
"Plus, we guarantee you’ll be inspired to have an adventure of your own as well!”
