Adventurous Squirrels from Burnside earn their acorns after taking on four-pronged challenge
Young Squirrels that formed at a Scouts group in a Burnside church around 18 months ago have set a high bar by earning their Acorn Awards.
The Acorn Award is the highest that a Squirrel can gain and the youngsters from the 185th Glasgow (Burnside) troop achieved theirs by enjoying adventures, helping their friends and learning new things.
The Squirrels had to take part in four challenge to earn badges that encouraged them to explore the world around them, work as a team, develop themselves, have an adventure and push themselves out of their comfort zone.

The challenges were – All about Adventure, All about me, All around us, and All Together. They also had to complete two activity badges.
Lesleyanne Gibson said: “They are the first Squirrels at the 185th Burnside church scout group to receive the acorn award and we are very proud of them.
“Our Squirrel section is relatively new. We began in May 2023 and the boys and girls receiving their awards all started out with us.”
The Squirrels meet on Friday nights at Burnside Church from 6pm to 7pm.
