Adverse weather closes popular Surrey gardens for second time in two weeks as rain causes flooding
A Surrey landscape garden and popular attraction has been forced to close for the second time in two weeks due to adverse weather.
Flooding at Painshill Gardens, near Cobham, caused by large amounts of rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday (November 26 and 27) means the attraction closed on Thursday (November 28) .
It was announced on the attraction's Facebook page on Thursday afternoon (November 28) that the gardens, which are full of dramatic follies, calming waters and stunning views will be closed for the remainder of the day. The Facebook page also warned visitors to check the Painshill website for confirmation of opening before travelling to the park in the next few days.

A statement read: "We are disappointed to advise that due to flooding, Painshill is unable to remain open for the remainder of the day."
"Please check the Painshill website for confirmation of opening before travelling to Painshill over the next few days. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and support."
The Painshill landscape is highly credited across Britain to be one of the finest examples of the British landscape movement, architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner, described this movement as "Britain’s’ greatest contribution to the visual arts".
Painshill is an award-winning 18th century landscape garden which features a gorgeous visual experience as you walk through the park and witness features such as a crystal grotto, a 14-acre lake, ruined abbeys and much more.
