Aerial Firefighting Craft Battle to Extinguish Wildfire in Southern Spain
Aerial firefighting units battled to extinguish a wildfire in southern Spain on June 9 that forced the evacuation of thousands from homes near the town of Pujerra.
Local firefighting authorities said the fire had affected 2,150 hectares of forest. Hundreds of emergency services staff including military emergecy units were responding to the blaze, according to Emergencias 112.
Spain’s weather bureau warned of temperatures as high as 40 degrees celsius in the south.
