Aerial Footage Shows Ida Damage in Grand Isle as Officials Survey Aftermath

An aerial view of the damage done by Hurricane Ida in Grand Isle, Louisiana, can be seen in footage posted by the state’s Lt Gov Billy Nungesser on August 31.

The hurricane was carrying winds of up to 145 mph when it made landfall on August 29, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Dangerous storm surges and heavy rainfall led to widespread flooding, while powerful winds caused damage to structures and left more than a million people without power. At least six deaths have been attributed to the storm.
