Aerial Footage Shows Wildfire Burning in Northwest Spain Amid Heat Wave

A wildfire burning in northwest Spain scorched thousands of acres of land by June 17, authorities said, as the country experienced a heat wave with temperatures upwards of 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in some areas.

According to authorities, a fire in the Sierra de la Culebra mountain range had spread to between 8,500 and 9,000 hectares (about 35 square miles) after it first ignited on June 15.

Spanish news outlet El Pais reported that two of four fires burning in Catalonia in the east of the country were under control as of Friday.
