Police were called out to an "aggressive" dog a week before a vicious attack on a man and woman in an Aberdeenshire village.

Cops raced to the Claymore Crescent area of Boddam at around 4pm on Saturday, September 7 following reports two people had been attacked.

The pair were both rushed to hospital but their condition is currently unknown. Following the attack, the dog was seized and destroyed.

It is understood that officers received a report that the same dog was seen "acting aggressively towards its owner" just a week earlier, on Saturday, August 31.

Police attended but the owner did not require any medical treatment or request any assistance from officers. The circumstances of the incidents have now been referred to Police Scotland's Professional Department (PSD) for review.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024, police received a report a man and woman had been attacked by a dog in Claymore Crescent, Boddam. Officers attended and both injured parties were taken to hospital. The dog has since been destroyed and enquiries remain ongoing."
