After the title was revealed, the American Horror Story season seven news is coming thick and fast.

Creator Ryan Murphy has revealed on Instagram that fan favourites Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be playing a couple in American Horror Story: Cult, with their characters Ally and Kai being "a love story for the ages".

The two played a doomed married couple in the second half of American Horror Story's sixth season Roanoke.

American Horror Story's seventh season will focus on a political theme, a direct response to the election of Donald Trump as US President, according to Murphy, and will also bring back the serial-killing clown Twisty.

Perhaps as a nod to this news, the creepy first teaser showcased a whole load of clowns, so don't watch if you're a coulrophobe.

Adina Porter and Cheyenne Jackson are also returning for the new season alongside Paulson and Peters, and they'll be joined by newcomers including Girls' Lena Dunham, Arrow's Colton Haynes, Alison Pill, Scream Queens' Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner.

We also know exactly how the new season will start. "There's something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they're watching it all go down," Murphy teased.

American Horror Story: Cult starts on September 5 on Fox in the US. Fox also airs the show in the UK, but hasn't confirmed a start date yet.
