Star Wars spin-off series Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ this August, it's been announced.

Reprising her twin-lightsabered Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, from The Mandalorian (which is currently streaming its third season), Rosario Dawson is joined here by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) as the green-skinned revolutionary leader Hera Syndulla and Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Greatest Showman) as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.

Confirmation of its impending arrival was revealed to audiences at this Easter weekend's Star Wars Celebration convention in London.

Ahsoka's summer release window was then followed by a first action-packed trailer.

"Something's coming. Something dark. I sense it," narrates Dawson's character, as she cuts her way down into a tomb.

Then we meet the likes of Hera, Sabine and Ray Stevenson's wise Baylan, who drifts to the dark side while the rebellion rages on.

Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma, who most recently returned to a galaxy far, far away for Andor, also pops up in hologram form.

One elusive figure is that of Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader, who was originally announced in the Ahsoka cast back in October 2021 and doesn't appear in the footage.

He previously told Digital Spy of a potential Vader solo show: "If the opportunity presents itself, I would be all for it. I think this is a character that is very complex, and there's a lot there to further explore.

"If the powers that be were so inclined, I would be so excited to get to do so."

Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ this August, while The Mandalorian season 3 is currently streaming on the same platform, with new episodes on Wednesdays. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
