Air ambulance scrambled to Scots rugby match after teen's horror injury
An air ambulance was scrambled to a youth rugby match in Forfar after a player was seriously injured. Emergency crews raced to Inchmacoble Park in the Angus at around 2pm today.
The teen player was injured near the end of the Under 18s match between Strathmore Sharks and Dunfermline Rugby Football Club. Speaking to the Record, Strathmore Rugby Club confirmed the boy suffered a neck/spinal injury at their home ground.
The club said the boy was taken to hospital in an ambulance by the paramedics who first arrived on the scene, though they praised the air ambulance crew's professionalism. On Sunday morning the club in Dunfermline confirmed that the player was thankfully on his way home from hospital.

A spokesperson for Strathmore Rugby Club said “We are a family-values-driven club and are obviously quite concerned. Safety around young people is paramount and we are waiting on Dunfermline getting back to us.
“Although the helicopter attended the young lad was taken away in the ambulance with the paramedics who first attended. The helicopter from the Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) was amazing to watch and acted with clinical professionalism.
“Some of our hospitality raffle money from the game will be forwarded as a show of respect for the way they conducted their business.”
Dunfermline Rugby Football Club has been approached for a comment.
