A man has been airlifted to hospital after 'falling ill' on a supermarket car park.
Emergency services descended on Clitheroe following the incident at the Booths store on Station Road. Two air ambulances landed at the castle grounds and officers from Lancashire Constabulary were tasked with 'clearing the playing field of people' so they could land and take off.
The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Thursday (October 10) and police said the man remains in hospital where he 'is receiving the best possible care'. Officers have thanked members of the public in the park at the time for their 'patience and understanding'

In a statement issued this morning (October 11), Ribble Valley Police said: "Just an update for incident that has generated some attention in Clitheroe yesterday afternoon. We were requested by our colleagues from NWAS and the Air Ambulance Service to attend the castle grounds to assist with clearing the playing field of people whilst the helicopters were landing and taking off.
"There were two helicopters in attendance for the same, one incident. Unfortunately, a man was taken ill on Booths car park and NWAS requested the assistance of the Air Ambulance due to his condition.
"He was transported by helicopter to hospital where he remains and is receiving the best possible care. Just a thank you to everyone who was in the park yesterday afternoon at the time and showed us patience and understanding whilst we closed off the area to let the paramedics deliver treatment."
