Air passenger branded ‘vile’ for swiping in-flight screen with his bare toes

An air passenger has been branded ‘disgusting’ after he was spotted swiping through in-flight entertainment with his bare foot.

Footage of the unidentified man was shared on Twitter on Monday, showing him dragging his toe across the plane touchscreen in front of him as he decided what to watch.

The tweet has since gone viral, with more than six million views in just 16 hours, as users shared their horror at the unsanitary behaviour.

“This is the most disturbing thing I’ve seen on Twitter,” commented one user.

“I won’t rest I until this person is captured by Interpol,” joked another.

“And people look at me crazy when I break these out on the plane,” wrote another alongside a picture of antibacterial wipes.

Others have nodded to Naomi Cambpell’s “pre-flight ritual” in which she wears plastic gloves to sanitise all surfaces on board “which you put your hands on”.

“This is exactly why Naomi Campbell wipes down everything she touches on a plane. I’m following her advice cuz these people are nasty,” a horrified Twitter user added.

The seven-second video was shared by American novelist Alafair Burke, with the caption: “My friend who doesn’t have twitter sent this from her flight. It belongs on Twitter.”

Ms Burke clarified that her friend who captured the clip was not the unknown foot culprit.

“Not event this ‘look what my feet can do’ guy is THAT dexterous,” she wrote.

One social media user decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt, commenting: “Based strictly on what is shown, none of us know if that person has a muscular impairment that precludes their ability to lean forward and use their hands for this.

“Let's practice less judgement and more compassion.”

However, Ms Burke pointed out that her photographer friend “saw him walk on and off the plane carrying his own bag.”

“He just likes to watch TV with his bare feet,” she said.
