Is This Airbnb Listing The Scariest Halloween Spot Ever?

Just how brave are you feeling?

If, this year, you want to elevate Halloween beyond the usual fake-blood and spider-web antics, we think we may have just the place for you.

For the first time ever, guests can stay 65 feet under the city of Paris in its eery catacombs – becoming the first people ever to wake up there in the morning.

Airbnb has the Parisian cemetery – where famous writers Jean de la Fontaine and Charles Perrault rest – listed for one night only.

To make it extra scary, the huge cemetery – one of the world’s largest – is only available for two guests, who have to enter a competition to stay.

After a private tour of the catacombs, the pair will be treated to dinner accompanied by spooky violins and a bedtime scary story.

Nicolas Ferrary, France Country Manager of Airbnb, said: “Our travellers are always on the lookout for original experiences and what could be more unique for Halloween than spending a night among the bones and ghosts below Paris.“

The listing on the website urges users to “Escape the pint-sized pirates and mini goblins in the world’s largest grave— Paris’ famous catacombs, the final resting place of 6 million souls.”

Under house rules it says: “Please respect the Catacombs as you would your own grave.”

“Be mindful of your Parisian neighbours, both the living and the dead. No bobbing for apples in the Catacomb pools.”

“Don’t forget your toothbrush and pajamas. Bonus points if they glow in the dark.”

While visitors are invited to tour the catacombs, no one is usually allowed to stay the night.

To win guests must write a story of 100 words maximum – in English or in French – explaining why they think they’re brave enough to sleep in the Paris catacombs.
