Aircraft forced to emergency land on residential Texas street

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on a residential street in west Texas after experiencing mechanical problems.

The plane clipped power lines and several cars as it plunged onto Voss Road, Sugar Land.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said that while the plane was leaking fuel, it did not catch fire.

Sheriff Troy Nehls commended the pilot of the plane for landing on a street rather than in the neighbourhood.

Residents said the plane sounded 'weird' and not like a normal plane coming down, before it landed. Alfredo Aviles was in his garden and heard a 'loud boom and tires screeching.'

The Drug Enforcement Agency aircraft was carrying three passengers on board when the pilot was forced to make an emergency stop. One passenger was injured and attended hospital, before later being released.
