Airdrieonians have confirmed the signing of defender Dylan MacDonald from Lowland League champions East Kilbride.

Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed this morning that the Diamonds were set to land the right-back on and the Championship side have announced the 20-year-old has become Rhys McCabe's first summer signing. It is understood he has penned a two-year deal.

MacDonald told the Airdrie website: “I’m absolutely buzzing, it’ll be a different competition but I’m raring to go. I was an inverted full-back at East Kilbride, and I’m hoping to bring the same to Airdrie and hopefully kick on here. I managed to watch a few of the Friday night games last season… it’s good to be here!”

Boss Rhys McCabe said: "We’ve been monitoring Dylan for a while and we tried to pursue that last year. He’s had a really successful year at East Kilbride, and I think he’s one that when you look at what he can offer and bring to the table, there’s so much more room for growth and development, especially in the kind of style and environment that we’ve created.

"He’s one that fits the mould that we look for, and one that I think the fans will be delighted with.”
