Airstrike near San’aa in Yemen kills 35

Saudi-led coalition forces are being blamed for an airstrike near the Yemeni capital, San’aa, that has killed at least 35 people. More bodies are buried under the rubble of a hotel near a Houthi-controlled checkpoint north of the city. One Houthi-controlled television station put the death toll at 41. The Houthi rebellion is backed by Iran, while the internationally-recognised government is supported by the Saudis and their Gulf and Arab allies, with logistical support and arms supplies from the US and the UK. So far the war has cost 10,000 lives, and created a humanitarian disaster. Neither side is in a position to strike a decisive blow against the other. In the meantime, the people suffer. “The Saudi-American aggressors targeted the hotel where khat traders were staying. There were around 100 people inside and we’ve found 35 martyrs and some body parts belonging to the victims. There are around 13 wounded and the rest of the victims are still under the rubble,” said emergency worker Yehia Hussein. A spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition said the alliance was collecting information on the incident, without elaborating.
