Ajax want to take Ryan Sessegnon on loan and have asked Tottenham whether the England Under-21 winger will be made available next season.

Sessegnon has a number of clubs interested in giving him regular football but Jose Mourinho is yet to make a decision on the 20 year-old featuring for him in the new campaign or going out for first-team games.

Hakim Ziyech’s departure for Chelsea in a £40 million deal has left Erik ten Hag looking to bolster his attack for 2020/21 and Sessegnon is one of his targets.

Sessegnon plays on the left flank, the opposite side to Ziyech, but is seen as a forward who would strengthen the squad at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Fulham are also interested in taking Sessegnon back to Craven Cottage after selling him to Spurs a year ago in a deal worth £25m. Under Mourinho, he made his first start in the 3-1 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich when he scored his team’s only goal.

Mourinho spoke about Sessegnon’s potential after his performance against Bayern but insisted he needed development, and to work on winning individual duels. He started four Premier League games during the campaign and did not feature in Project Restart after football’s break for the coronavirus pandemic.

Sessegnon can also play at left-back which means he could be useful for Mourinho next season as Jan Vertonghen has left the club and Danny Rose is out of favour, leaving him with Ben Davies and little cover.

Mourinho and his coaching staff believe Sessegnon has a bright future at the club and will decide on the best path for him shortly. Barcelona have previously shown interest in the wide man but they would need to sell or swap Junior Firpo before moving for a player in his position.
