Liverpool start their Champions League campaign with a trip to Netherlands to face Eredivisie side Ajax.

Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t won in their past two fixtures and lost Virgil van Dijk at the weekend to what will likely be a season-ending injury.

The Reds won this competition two seasons ago, with Ajax reaching the semi-finals on that occasion.

This is a much-changed side, however, and the Eredivisie champions are again building a new team after the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Donny van de Beek departed over the last two summers.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.

When is the match?

The game kicks off at 8pm on Wednesday, 21 October.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on BT Sport 2. Subscribers can also stream the match via the BT Sport website or app.

What is the team news?

The Dutch side should have an almost fully fit squad to choose from and could make a few changes from the weekend game, but forward Antony is out.

Liverpool are without the aforementioned Van Dijk, as well as goalkeeper Alisson, new midfielder Thiago Alcantara, centre-back Joel Matip and left-back Kostas Tsimikas. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also a longer-term absentee. Naby Keita should be in the squad, however, after missing the weekend game.

Predicted line-ups

Ajax: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Blind, Tagliafico; Alvarez, Gravenberch; Neres, Kudus, Tadic; Labyad.

Liverpool: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Fabinho, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Odds

Ajax - 19/5

Draw - 7/2

Liverpool - 14/19
