Al-Aqsa Mosque Reopens Its Doors After Extended Closure Due to COVID-19

Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem reopened its doors to worshippers on May 31 after a two-and-a-half-month closure since March 15 as part of the COVID-19 measures.

Worshippers can be heard chanting “God is the greatest” and “With soul and blood we will redeem you, Al-Aqsa” as soon as the mosque’s doors opened prior to dawn prayers. Some kneeled and kissed the ground as they got in. One woman can be seen throwing chocolate at people.

Reports say that around 700 people attended dawn prayers.

Worshippers are required to bring their own prayer rug and wear masks.
