Alan Carr reveals crippling health battle which meant he 'couldn't do anything'
Popular TV presenter and comedian Alan Carr has revealed how he was left unable to "do anything" after suffering from a crippling health issue last year.
Alan made the revelation while speaking to singer Paloma Faith on her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast. She asked the 48-year-old whether he had any worries about ageing, and he responded: "I had Sciatica last year and I couldn't do anything."
But, while revealing the effects of his recent health battle, in his typical humorous style the comedian managed to see the funny side: "When you're younger, you're so arrogant, you think people get old for a bet. You think 'oh look at that man, he's got a stick for a laugh'." He added that his recent battle with Sciatica had 'knocked him for six'.

According to the NHS, sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back to your feet, is irritated or compressed. It usually gets better in a few weeks to a few months but can last longer.
The condition "usually affects your bottom and the back of one leg, often including your foot and toes".
Symptoms of the condition can include, a sharp, burning pain down the back of the leg, tingling, numbness and weakness.
It is also believed that approximately 40% of the UK population will suffer with the condition at some point in their lifetime.
Alan has become a popular face on our TV screens over the last two decades, but his career in television first began to take off in 2007 when he hosted his own show, Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong, which aired on Channel 4 until 2009.
After the end of his first self-named show, Alan landed another, this time presenting the hugely successful Alan Carr: Chatty Man from 2009 until 2016 after filming 16 series. Such was the success of the show, Alan was awarded a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance in 2013.
