Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man' has been axed
Sad news for Alan Carr fans – it has been confirmed that the comic’s much-loved chat show has been axed.
Wah.
The hilarious programme reportedly struggled to compete against it’s BBC rival, Graham Norton, with Channel 4 opting to pull the plug following a decline in ratings after a whopping 16 series.
Speaking to The Sun, Alan confirmed the sad news, explaining: “I just think that the art of the chat show has evolved unless you can get the amazing guests all the time that Norton gets.
“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think moving it to a Thursday was the best move. It feels like a party show, a Friday show.
“Three guests a week and Channel 4, God love ’em, extended it to 30 episodes – that’s 90 guests who are relevant and people are interested in, up against the amazing Norton and Jonathan Ross.
“I’ve gone as far as I can with ‘Chatty Man’. Won a BAFTA, won two NTAs.”
Thankfully, it’s not all bad news as Alan has landed a brand new show on the same channel, ‘Alan Carr’s Happy Hour’.
Set to air at 8pm on Fridays, Alan will interview celebrities minus the booze in a pre-watershed slot, which means that we definitely won’t be getting the same level of Alan Carr one-liners, such as his now-infamous question to bisexual Lindsay Lohan: “Are you back on the c***?”
Still, the show will feature live music and audience participation and we’re willing to bet that it’s going to be bloomin’ brilliant.
