The Apprentice 2018 is only a week away, and we've just been introduced to a fresh batch of contestants that are hoping to impress Lord Alan Sugar in the boardroom.

But fans had already been looking for clues as to who might be taking part in the Celebrity Apprentice – due to hit screens in 2019.

Lord Sugar is remaining tight-lipped about the names on the line-up, but he has revealed that "it's in production".

Following rumours that it would be filmed over the summer, he told Digital Spy and other media that "we're working on that [the celebrity series] at the moment".

It has also been confirmed that the special series will air as part of Comic Relief in March of next year.

We may not know exactly who is involved, but one person that we certainly won't be seeing back in the boardroom any time soon is Sugar's long-term rival Piers Morgan.

"He wouldn't last two minutes, would he?," Lord Sugar joked, when asked whether or not we will ever see a cameo from the Good Morning Britain co-host again.

"He did Celebrity Apprentice about 13 years or 14 years ago, where he was fired," the business mogul continued. "He conveniently forgets to mention that."

Stating that Piers often "goes on talking about how he was hired in the American version", Sugar hinted that it was actually him that played a part in making that happen, adding: "He forgets how he got hired in the American version, also. Because I made that happen for him."

"No, he won't be in this lot," he confirmed.

Cast rumours for Celebrity Apprentice currently include Davina McCall and Ayda Field, currently a judge on The X Factor, and Rylan Clark-Neal.

The regular Apprentice returns on Wednesday, October 3 at 9pm on BBC One.
