Albion Rovers have made a triple signing swoop ahead of today's friendly clash with Cumbernauld United.

Midfielder Kai Kirkpatrick, who was on loan at Lowland League rivals Cumbernauld Colts last season from West of Scotland Premier side St Cadoc's, has joined alongside another former Colts player in midfielder and ex-Rovers man Callum Home, as well as left-back Marcus Lavery, who joins from fellow fifth tier outfit Stirling University.

Twenty-one-year-old Kirkpatrick made 28 appearances for David Proctor's Colts on the way to the Broadwood side earning a top-four finish, while 31-year-old Home - who was at Cliftonhill in 2019 during Kevin Harper's reign, made 33 outings for them.

Lavery, 22, brings plenty of experience to Sandy Clark's side, having captained the Students last season and also picked up their player of the year prize. He began his career in St Mirren's youth development side.

Upon joining Rovers, Kirkpatrick said: “I liked how Sandy Clark spoke and it felt like a good move for me. Pre-season has been a good start. We want to get Albion Rovers back to where it should be.”

Lavery said: "Sandy got in touch me a few months ago and as soon as he spoke to me I knew this is where I wanted to come. I like to get on the ball and get forward. I like to defend as well so hopefully I can bring both parts of my game to the club.

"I'm looking forward to getting started. I've been at Uni the last four years so I feel like I know the league well now and we can try and challenge this season."

Meanwhile, player/coach Michael Paton has signed up for another campaign after the ex-Aberdeen forward penned a new deal.

Rovers fans could get their first glimpse of the new signings when they take on West of Scotland League side Cumbernauld United at Cliftonhill. Kick-off is 3pm.
