Aldi announces 11 new stores opening across UK before end of year - including one in Greater Manchester

Aldi has announced it will be opening 11 new stores by the end of this year - including Greater Manchester.

The latest openings form part of Aldi’s long-term target of reaching 1,500 stores across the UK, with the supermarket set to invest £800 million in expanding its UK footprint this year alone.

In addition to opening the new stores, more than 15 stores will undergo refurbishments between now and Christmas to enhance the customer experience and introduce even more sustainable features.

Jonathan Neale, Real Estate Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’re committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone.

“Our new store openings are a testament to our ongoing investment in the UK, and we’re thrilled to bring Aldi’s unbeatable prices to even more communities ahead of the festive season.”

The store coming to Greater Manchester is located in Ashton-in-Markerfield, Wigan, and will add to the existing 20 plus stores already in the county.

With these new store openings, there will be new job opportunities for people in the surrounding areas. Aldi Store Assistants receive starting pay of £12.40 per hour, £13.65 per hour for those in London.

Aldi has this week launched its Christmas campaign with the long awaited return of Kevin the Carrot. The Aldi Christmas advert was released on Monday and they have announced that Kevin the Carrot toys will return to stores from 14 November.
