The countdown to Black Friday is officially on, with just over a week to go until the biggest shopping event of the year.
But there’s no need to wait until the big day itself to snap up a brilliant deal, as a range of big-name retailers, including Currys PC World, John Lewis, AO, Very and Boots, have launched their Black Friday sales early.
Amazon kicked off the pre-sale trend by starting its early bird deals a whole month ahead of the event, two weeks earlier than its sale last year.
We’re expecting even more retailers to follow suit before Black Friday, 27 November, and given 2020 is such a big year for the sale, we’ve also got a new kid on the block.
Our IndyBest team hand-picks every deal we feature. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.
Aldi will be participating in Black Friday for the first time ever, offering deals exclusively online on big-ticket items such as the Nintendo Switch and Apple Airpods, along with its popular owned-brand goods.
As with all of the retailer’s “special buys”, once these products sell out, they are gone, so you’ll have to act fast when they launch on Black Friday itself.
The Nintendo Switch, a hugely popular gaming console that always sells out quickly on sales events including Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday, will cost just £229.99.
The retailer claims that at this price, you’ll be saving 23 per cent when compared to its competitors, which is generous, given that the Switch usually has much smaller discounts with other retailers.
Aldi will also be selling Apple AirPods for just £89.99, which is the cheapest price we’ve seen the popular earbuds at so far, and you can snap up a refurbished iPhone 8 for just £199.99, with 64gb of storage.
If you’re shopping for a Lego fan this Black Friday, keep an eye on this deal, as Aldi will be selling the Lego Star Wars Millenium Falcon Building Set for just £59.99, a near £100 saving when compared to Argos’s non-sale price of £150.
Offers from the retailer’s range of own-brand products include a vacuum beard and stubble trimmer for £29.99, a fitness watch for £19.99 and a portable Bluetooth speaker for £24.99.
While the sale won’t start until 27 November, you can bookmark this landing page which will go live on the day, in order to get a fighting chance of snapping up a deal.
