Aldi’s East Kilbride store named the ‘happiest’ in Scotland
Aldi’s Queensway store in East Kilbride has been revealed as the ‘happiest’ in Scotland.
The popular discount retailer conducted research with employees at all 106 of its Scottish stores to determine which was the ‘happiest’ in celebration of Happiness Happens Month, which encourages people to take stock and celebrate what makes them happy.
Aldi has 106 stores in Scotland located in all corners of the country, from Aberdeen to Hawick, and prides itself on creating a positive and supportive place to work.
The retailer’s survey looked at factors such as job satisfaction, colleague relationships and day-to-day emotions.
Aldi’s East Kilbride store, based in Units 3 and 4 Queensway in East Kilbride, first opened in April 2013 and employs 35 staff who work hard to help shoppers pick up great deals at Aldi’s famously low prices. The store re-opened to shoppers last summer after undergoing a refurbishment.
And it came out top for how enjoyable employees found their role, as well as the general happiness of customers who visit the store. One hundred per cent of the East Kilbride employees recommended Aldi as a great place to work, saying that they “rave” about the store.

Graham Nicolson, regional managing director, Aldi Scotland, said: “We know that our colleagues are happy in their roles, but we thought it would be a bit of fun to find out which store is truly the ‘happiest’.
“Our East Kilbride store has a really solid community, and our Aldi store has become an integral part of the neighbourhood. We welcome a lot of the same faces daily and our staff have a really good rapport with our regular customers.
"While I’m sure that it’s our incredibly low prices that first attract people through our doors, I am confident that it’s the high levels of customer services that sees customers coming back again and again."
He added: "This store embodies everything we stand for – a strong sense of community, a dedicated team, and a commitment to making every customer experience joyful. It’s a true reflection of how retail can bring people together and create moments of happiness every day."
