Aldi’s launched a range of gins based on your star sign

As hard as we try to pretend that we don’t get all wrapped up in our horoscopes, we just can’t resist having a quick read to find out if we’re going to find love this month. Or, more importantly, win the lottery.

Knowing the nation’s obsession with horoscopes, Aldi has launched a range of gins based on astrology, and there’s one for every star sign.

Launching in stores and online on 6 August, the new gins make up Haysmith’s Elements range and are based on the four elements: earth, water, air and fire.

For fire signs – Aries, Sagittarius and Leo – the Fire gin does exactly what it says on the tin/bottle. It’s got “the heat of chilli intertwined with the perfume of the pink Szechuan peppercorns will tantalise taste buds and leave people wanting more”, according to Aldi. Blimey.

If you’re a Capricorn or a Taurus or Virgo, the Earth gin is the one for you. It’s described as “an old faithful” (not sure how to feel about that, tbh…), and is a reliable gin, like those who identify with the element. Darjeeling tea and citrus undertones make this a classic gin best served with ice, tonic and a twist of lemon peel.

Aquarius, Geminis and Libras will enjoy the Air gin, which offers savoury flavours including dulce seaweed and sea buckthorn.

For water signs, aka Cancer, Scorpios and Pisces, the Water gin is described as calm and collected but with “an explosion of lemongrass, ginger and citrus”, according to Aldi. It’s alcohol-free and best served with lemonade, citrus peel and lots of ice for a refreshing summer sip.

The Earth, Fire and Air gins will set you back £14.99, while the non-alcoholic Water gin costs £9.99.

If you can face putting your crystal ball down for a minute, you can get your hands on the gins in Aldi from 6 August.
