Aldi has named the opening date for its latest North Wales store. The supermarket giant secured planning permission for a new supermarket in Pwllheli last November.

The Caernarfon Road store will now open on Thursday November 28 at 8am. It is one of 11 new stores Aldi will open across the UK between now and Christmas.

Aldi also plans further expansion in North Wales in future years. It has four target towns across the region which can be found here.

The new store will be run by manager Kel Hughes, along with a team of 23 staff from the local community.

At the opening they will be joined by rugby player Sam Cross, an Olympic silver medallist with Team GB. Sam will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

Mr Hughes said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Pwllheli. It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Sam Cross join us will make it a morning to remember.”

Rugby star Sam Cross added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”

The new Aldi store is also calling on local charities and food banks in Pwllheli to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
