Aldi shoppers are being handed a staggering £1,475 - all by choosing the right supermarket to shop at. Aldi has just been named Britain’s cheapest supermarket for the 12th month in a row – with an average basket of weekly shopping costing £30.73 less than at Waitrose.

An Aldi spokesperson said: "Our promise to customers is that they will make significant savings every time they shop with Aldi, which is why we've been named Which? Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for three years running.

"Which? has also named Aldi the UK's Cheapest Supermarket every month this year, even in its latest analysis including loyalty prices." An Aldi spokesperson said: "Aldi has just been named Britain’s cheapest supermarket for the 12th month in a row – with an average basket of weekly shopping costing £30.73 less than at Waitrose.

"Not only is Aldi the only supermarket to ever achieve this milestone, but the discount retailer has also reached this goal for the second time, putting it streets ahead of the competition. In fact, shoppers could have saved up to £1,475 on average by shopping at Aldi over the last 12 months."

"Those who thought they might be getting a good deal when they use their Nectar or Clubcard are in for a surprise, as Which? included loyalty prices in its monthly Cheapest Supermarket price comparison, and the results still showed Sainsbury’s to be £14.27 more expensive than Aldi, while Tesco was £10.60 pricier.

"In fact, even those with the Lidl Plus app- which offers a discount on everyday Lidl prices – would have saved money by shopping at Aldi in October." Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “Although we’re not surprised to hear we have been the UK’s cheapest supermarket for 12 consecutive months, we’re still enormously proud of this achievement. Our customers know that the only place to get Aldi prices is at Aldi – and the fact that we’re the only UK supermarket to achieve this milestone is proof of that promise.

“Our unswerving commitment to providing the best quality food at the best possible prices clearly shines through when customers see how much money they can save every week simply by switching to Aldi. Here’s to 12 more amazing months!”
