Aldi has issued a major product recall for bao buns - amid a health and safety risk. Aldi has issued an urgent product notice, urging shoppers not to consume the popular items, and instead implored customers to return the product to stores.

Aldi - which counts Tesco and Asda among its rivals - explained: "The following Public Product Recall has taken place. Our supplier is recalling Let’s Party Vegetable Bao Buns due to an error meaning some products contain an undeclared allergen (sesame) as well as duck meat which is not listed on the packaging.

"This may present a health risk to anyone with a sesame allergy." The Let’s Party Vegetable Bao Buns come in 8 Packs with a bar code of 4061463842909. The best before date of the item affected in the recall is "all" batches. Aldi - which is rivalled by Lidl and Sainsbury's - said: "We’ve removed these products from sale in all stores and recalling all affected products.

"Do not consume the product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. Give us a call on 0800 042 0800 (UK) or fill out our webform." It explained: "Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation. For further information, please visit help.aldi.co.uk Customer services can be contacted on 0800 042 0800." Aldi continued: "Our supplier is recalling Let’s Party Vegetable Bao Buns due to an error meaning some products contain an undeclared allergen (sesame) as well as duck meat which is not listed on the packaging.

"This may present a health risk to anyone with a sesame allergy." This is a precautionary recall. Aldi is not aware of any customers reporting illness to date, it says. "We have removed this product from sale in all stores and our supplier is recalling all affected products," it added.
