Alec Baldwin has defended Woody Allen after a bunch of actors expressed their regret at working with him.

The veteran director has been accused by adopted daughter Dylan Farrow of molesting her when she was just seven. He has vehemently denied the allegations.

Baldwin – who worked with Allen on To Rome With Love and Blue Jasmine – said the ongoing sexual abuse allegations levelled against the director are “unfair and sad”.

He tweeted: “Woody Allen was investigated forensically by two states (NY and CT) and no charges were filed. The renunciation of him and his work, no doubt, has some purpose.

“But it’s unfair and sad to me. I worked w WA 3 times and it was one of the privileges of my career.”

Baldwin’s tweet comes as actor Timothée Chalamet revealed he would donate his entire salary from upcoming film, A Rainy Day in New York, as he wants to distance himself from Allen.

“I don’t want to profit from my work on the film, and to that end, I am going to donate my entire salary to three charities: TIME’S UP, The LGBT Center in New York and RAINN,” he said in a lengthy Instagram post.

“I want to be worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the brave artists who are fighting for all people to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

Selena Gomez’s mother Mandy Teefy has revealed she tried to warn her daughter against working with Allen on the film after a number of fans reached out to the former Disney star begging her to apologise for working with him.

Responding to an Instagram post, Teefy wrote: “Sorry, no one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to do.

“I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people.

“There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.”

Gomez’s co-star Rebecca Hall announced that she would be donating her fee for the film to charity in the wake of the allegations.
