Songs of Praise presenter Aled Jones is set to return to the BBC over the coming weeks following a leave of absence.

Jones "voluntarily agreed not to go on the BBC " last November while the corporation investigated claims of inappropriate behaviour in relation to a female colleague.

Confirming that they had accepted Aled's apology for his actions – which were unrelated to his broadcast work – the BBC announced today (January 23) that the long-time presenter was no longer under review, and will soon resume presenting Songs of Praise and his show on BBC Radio Wales.

A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed that they had been "considering complaints about [Jones's] past behaviour".

"While the behaviour under review was not related to his work with the BBC, Aled recognises it was inappropriate and caused real distress to others," a statement read.

"He has apologised for this and assured the BBC that there will be no repeat of this behaviour in future."

Shortly after the allegations were made public, a spokesperson for Jones said that he 'accepted' the "occasionally juvenile" nature of his previous behaviour.

"He never intended to harass or distress and he strongly denies any inappropriate contact. He is, however, deeply sorry for any upset caused and hopes this matter is resolved soon," they said.

Aled Jones, who shot to fame at the age of 12 with his single 'Walking in the Air', presents Songs of Praise for the BBC and has also fronted the channel's Escape to the Country and Cash in the Attic.
