Digital Foundry has announced that it will conduct the official reveal of Microsoft's much-anticipated new console, code-named 'Project Scorpio', later this week.
The news was delivered in a tweet earlier today from the Eurogamer and Digital Foundry Twitter accounts. The reveal will occur at 2pm UK time on Thursday, April 6.
Project Scorpio is Microsoft's answer to the PlayStation 4 Pro, and is a continuation of the Xbox One line. The new flagship console will feature a six-teraflop GPU, two more teraflops than the PS4 Pro offers.
Scorpio is scheduled to launch this Christmas and will be 4K, HDR, and virtual reality ready. If it arrives as promised, then it will be by far the most powerful games console ever made.
The brand new hardware represents a huge improvement in the Xbox One's performance, but it is not a "next generation machine". Games will be released for the Scorpio alongside the Xbox One and One S ,and will be playable on all three consoles.
Until the official reveal, you can read everything we've gathered about Project Scorpio here, including its predicted specs and what Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said about the project since its announcement.
