Alesha Dixon is returning to Saturday nights on the BBC as host of upcoming show The Greatest Dancer.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge will return to the prime-time slot alongside Jordan Banjo.

The duo will front Simon Cowell’s latest venture The Greatest Dancer as they feature talent from all over the world, encompassing many different genres of dance.

Speaking about the show, Dixon said: “I can’t wait to be a part of The Greatest Dancer and work with Jordan.

“As a massive fan of dance I’m so excited about the prospect of finding amazing new dance talent.”

Dixon stormed to victory in 2007 with professional partner Matthew Cutler, taking home the series five glitterball, before replacing Arlene Phillips as a judge on the show in 2009.

Dixon left the show after the 2011 series for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, produced by the same company behind the new BBC dance show.

A pilot of the show – which is rumoured to feature Cheryl as a judge – was filmed earlier this year before being greenlit for a full series.

The programme will air in 2019, potentially facing former BBC show The Voice UK or ITV’s Dancing On Ice, with auditions currently taking place.

Kate Phillips, Controller Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC, says: “Alesha and Jordan are the perfect pairing for The Greatest Dancer.

“Their love of dance is clear and I know they’ll be great hosts to the huge array of talented hopefuls coming to Saturday nights on BBC One.”
