Cooper’s podcast had been airing exclusively on Spotify since July 2021 and had been one of the most popular podcasts on the platform. In July 2021, Spotify signed a multiyear deal with Cooper, which gave it exclusive rights to future episodes of Call Her Daddy, as well as the back catalog of the podcast and future projects from Cooper.
The move to broaden distribution of the podcast comes as Spotify moves further away from the exclusive distribution model. The Joe Rogan Experience, which is consistently among the top charting podcasts on the platform, remains exclusive to Spotify.
“Leveraging Call Her Daddy‘s strength with audiences and advertisers, we’re expanding the audio version of the show from exclusive to wide distribution while keeping its video episodes exclusive to Spotify. Doing so will help us build on the successful broad rollout of other originals and licensed titles like Armchair Expert, anything goes with emma chamberlain, and Science Vs which have seen strong boosts in audience reach and ad revenue. This shift will drive increased value for both creators and Spotify,” a spokesperson for Spotify said.
Spotify also has a partnership with Cooper’s Unwell Network through which Spotify serves as the sales and distribution partner for shows in the network, including Hot Mess with Alix Earle and Pretty Lonesome with Madeline Argy.
“For years now, Daddy Gang has been asking to share their favorite Call Her Daddy episodes with friends who aren’t on Spotify. I’m so excited to share the news that my show will now be widely distributed for even more fans to enjoy. Daddy Gang can continue to watch on Spotify, but now listeners can find Call Her Daddy wherever they get their podcasts,” Cooper said.
