Alex Jones has announced 'The One Show’ is taking a break from screens for almost a month.

The 45-year-old presenter - who co-hosts the BBC show alongside former footballer Jermaine Jenas and singer Ronan Keating – confirmed on last night’s (27.07.22) episode the programme would be coming off air due to a schedule shakeup, as the channel gears up for the Commonwealth Games.

She said: "That is your lot this week and for a few weeks because we are taking a summer break. We'll be back on August 22. Until then, stay safe and have a lovely summer."

The break comes after Alex revealed this week she was going through a “tricky and challenging" patch in her life.

The mum of three - who shares Teddy, five, Kit, two, and 11-month-old Annie with husband Charlie Thomson – wrote on Instagram: "Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven’t had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok. I was touched by your kindness and so I just wanted to check in and say thank you, and that even though life has been a bit challenging, we are ok and still managing to enjoy the beginning of the holidays and there’s still plenty to smile about! (I’ll pop some stuff on my stories)

During her appearances on ‘The One Show’ this week, Alex did not elaborate on the Instagram post or provide any further detail on her situation.

Friends and fans inundated Alex with good wishes.

Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins wrote: "Hope all OK, sending love”.

Izzy Judd added: "Sending love”.
