Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injury 'really bad', admits Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp fears Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may have suffered a "really bad injury" during Liverpool's Champions League win over Roma on Tuesday night.

The midfielder was stretchered off in the 15th minute of Liverpool's 5-2 semi-final first-leg win over Eusebio Di Francesco's side after he appeared to hurt his knee as he slid in to try and win the ball off Aleksandar Kolarov.

It took Liverpool's medical team several minutes to take Oxlade-Chamberlain, who looked in obvious pain following the injury, off the pitch and then down the tunnel.

And after the game at Anfield, Klopp confirmed that the England international - who has enjoyed a positive first season at Liverpool - may be out for the final few games of the season.

Speaking to BT Sport, Klopp said: "Oxlade-Chamberlain is probably a really bad injury.

"That is bad news for us. The squad doesn't get bigger at the moment so we need to be creative in the next few games."

The news will also be a concern for England manager Gareth Southgate, who has started Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Three Lions' last two games against the Netherlands and Italy.
