Katie debuted as a panelist on the daytime show this week and has already courted her fair share of controversy following her outspoken comments.

And now her ex-husband Alex Reid has waded into the debate criticising the former glamour model after she said that she wouldn’t be surprised if he ‘ended up transgender.’

The star was discussing Eddie Redmayne’s latest film The Danish Girl when she made comments that she had ‘been in a similar situation’ being married to Alex and his transvestite alter-ego, Roxanne.

She added: “If he does end up being a transgender then it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s hard for me to say why on daytime TV.”

Alex has since slammed the comment, telling The Sun: “When I got home I watched show on catch-up and I was sickened. My family is grieving [Alex’s father recently died], they don’t need this. I don’t want - especially on daytime TV - for her to be talking about my private sex life.

“She says she doesn’t want to talk about me, or give me airtime but she continues to talk about me - it’s disgusting.

“Furthermore, her ridiculing me is inciting prejudice and hate against trans people.”

He since insisted to BANG! Showbiz that he has ‘no intention’ of transitioning.

“The sniggering and coquettish giggling actually upset me more for those facing ridicule every day, perhaps going through transition, as it somehow became a joke, something to be laughed at and made fun of.”

Alex has also shown his supported for the trans community by recreating Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair shoot for Star magazine.

At the time, Alex admitted feeling an affinity to Caitlyn, claiming: “Bruce [as she was known to the world, before coming out] was mocked because trans people are the last social taboo. We don’t have the same rights.

“Wow, I just said ‘we’. I guess I am. Why not be trans?”
