Sam Smith, Lily Allen and Sienna Miller lead New York Fashion Week’s AW23 front row

New York Fashion Week sprung back into action to present a fresh set of AW23 collections.

And after last season saw New York attract its starriest front rows in years, expectations were high when events began on February 9.

Friday saw proceedings pick up with the Rodarte show, the romantic label which boasts a cult following of A-listers. This season, the front row was lead by Natasha Lyonne, the actress famed for her roles in Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll and a long term BFF of Chloë Sevigny, who was sat by Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson.

Joining the pair was London’s own Alexa Chung, who took her place alongside the editor and socialite Derek Blasberg, and American actress Karthyn Newton.

That evening, Prabal Gurang’s catwalk was the ticket to secure as the likes of Nicky Hilton Rothschild joined Instagram’s Head of Fashion Eva Chen and singer Kelsea Ballerini gathered to watch the show.

Jonathan Simkhai’s new collection also drew in a starry crowd counting NYFW royalty Julia Fox and American socialite Olivia Palermo. They cheered on Emily Ratajkowski who closed the show.

Saturday’s best frow was swept up by Proenza Schouler. First came Sienna Miller and her daughter Marlowe Sturridge, who were later joined by US Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Elsewhere, Marc Jacobs arrived wearing a standout Saint Laurent look, joining The White Lotus’ Meghann Fahy, Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star Stephanie Shepherd, and dancer Maddie Ziegler in watching the collection.

And on Sunday, it was Lily Allen who took the prize for most coveted guest. The singer, whose Brooklyn digs made for a striking cover of this month’s Architectural Digest magazine, was seated with American actress Katie Holmes at the Ulla Johnson runway. Allen nailed a contrasting look, pairing a clashing pattern sweater with her fresh cut, platinum blonde bob.

Tory Burch welcomed the likes of actress Claire Foy, model Ashley Graham, and Suki Waterhouse attended the upscale Tory Burch collection on Monday. Meanwhile, Julia Fox lead the rebels to Brooklyn, where upcomer Elena Velez showed a raw and sexy, industrial-inspired collection.

Lil Nas X made a mark on the show circuit on Tuesday, taking his seat by Sam Smith at the Chirstian Cowan collection, and joining the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Noah Beck and You star Penn Badgley at Thom Browne.

And on the final day, it was Michael Kors that attracted the starriest gang. Anna Wintour sat with New York stalwart Gloria Steinem on the front row. Also there was Mindy Kaling, Lisa Rinna, and The White Lotus’ Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannò.
