The name on everybody's lips is gonna be...Alexandra Burke, who has been cast in the role of Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago.

She takes over the part from Sarah Soetaert from August 13-October 14 at the Phoenix Theatre, joining Martin Kemp as Billy Flynn, Josefina Gabrielle as Velma Kelly and Mazz Murray as Mama Morton. Kemp remains in the production until September 1.

Burke rose to fame after winning the fifth series of the X Factor, going on to star in West End productions of The Bodyguard and the recent revival of Chess at the London Coliseum.

Chicago returned to the West End following a five and a half year absence. During its original 15 year stint in London, it was the longest running revival in the West End, and is the world’s longest American musical.

In 2002, the film adaptation starring Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Velma Kelly garnered 6 Academy Awards, including one for Zeta-Jones's performance.
