Alison Hammond 'blindsided' as she offers rare glimpse into her love life

This Morning's Alison Hammond has shared a rare insight into her private life as she opened up about her new novel that is based on her own life.

The presenter, 49, made an appearance on Thursday’s (November 21) episode of BBC The One Show to promote her new book, Bombshell.

The romcom follows protagonist Madison who has given up her own dreams to support her children and her television heartthrob husband's career - only for him to suddenly walk out on their marriage.

Alison, who co-wrote the novel with Lisa Bent, seems to have drawn on many personal experiences in her novel including her relationship with Russian masseur David Putman, 26.

Speaking to hosts Roman Kemp and Angellica Bell about the plot, she started off by saying: “Let me set the scene, so you can imagine Madison is married to a TV heartthrob who is quite famous and is getting more famous as time goes on. They are married and have two kids and everything is going swimmingly.”

The TV star candidly admitted: “Now we have all been blindsided in love.” Turning her attention back to the book's fictional character Madison, Alison continued: “One day her husband decides ‘I don’t want to be with you anymore’ so she goes on this massive mission like a murder mystery but without the murder and she tries to find out what is going on with her husband.”

Assuring fans that there is more to come, Alison added: “That little moment is not a spoiler for the book, what I have just told you - there are more spoilers but I’m not going to tell you that because you need to read the book.”

Roman couldn’t help but quiz the TV presenter on her inspiration behind the book as Alison teased: “All I can say is Madison lives in my head and the only experiences I’ve got is my life so obviously everything that goes on in the book is from my head or from people I know in the industry.”

Turning to Roman she continued: “People who have told me a bit of gossip and you could be in the book.” Roman was taken back as he gasped and shouted: “No don’t say that because now I’m worried. “ Everyone burst out laughing as he continued: “What have you told people Alison, you haven’t told them about us have you?”

Alison joked: “You could be based on a few of the characters so it’s from my own experiences. But you know what it’s just the right amount of drama and it’s just what you need this Christmas.”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
