Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary are set to continue their roles on This Morning through the summer despite concerns about their commitments to other networks. The popular pair have reportedly been confirmed as the main hosts for the summer period stepping in while Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard are away.

Although backup presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle were considered for the lead spots they will instead join a rotating support team that includes various guest hosts like Joel Dommett. An insider tokd The Sun's TV Bizarre column: "Viewers love Alison and Dermot so locking them in for the summer was a priority.

"Josie and Craig are great but execs couldn't risk losing their best names when a spotlight's on the show. It's hoped a decent summer run from Ali and Dermot could get things off to a headstart when Cat and Ben return in September."

Despite concerns over Dermot's new gameshow gig with UKTV channel Dave and Alison's involvement in two BBC projects, Alison Hammond's Big Weekend and Florida Unpacked, it appears that scheduling conflicts have been resolved. The latter show will also feature her son Aiden, aged 19.

Addressing the potential clash the insider mentioned: "Things looked a bit wobbly when Ali booked the travel show. It's due to film in Florida before September. Thankfully the schedules have worked out." A spokesman for This Morning said: "Our summer presenting line-up will be announced in due course."
