Alison Hammond has spoken of her heartbreak as her beloved mum has just passed away.
The This Morning presenter, 45, confirmed the sad news today sharing photos of her mum, Maria who died from liver and lung cancer, aged 72.
“Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful, wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.
“Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now.”
She added: “I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you mum.”
Alison shared a number of treasured photos of her mum on her Instagram stories too.
The presenter’s friends and colleagues have been showing their support, with Stacey Solomon commenting: “I love you so much Ali.”
Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha wrote: “Awwww sweetie… sending so much love. Im so sorry to hear of your loss.”
And Ruth Langsford shared her condolences, adding: “Beautiful photos....captures the love you had for each other. Big love my darling.”
Alison had kept her mum’s health battle quite private in recent months, but occasionally shared photos of her with fans.
In March last year, she uploaded a snap of them wearing matching denim outfits for Mother’s Day.
“My fabulous mum and I in the @jdwfashion Mother’s Day campaign, look at her rocking denim at 70! Wishing her and all the mums and stepmum’s out there a happy Mother’s Day today,” she wrote.
Over on Twitter, Alison announced the sad new this morning and added: “RIP my best friend and Living Angel please come to my dreams.”
