Alison Hammond is being urged to leave her relationship by the mother of her current boyfriend.

The This Morning star, who recently turned 49, has openly confirmed her relationship with Russian masseuse David Putman, who is 23 years younger than her.

The happy couple are believed to be head over heels in love but not everyone seems as thrilled by their romance, especially David's mother.

Earlier this month, Alison and David had their first shared appearance on the red carpet, accompanied by Aidan, Alison's son. They were attending a high-profile celebrity gathering, the Mirror reports.

Alison is said to be rather hurt by some of the backlash received ever since her relationship became public knowledge.

However, the most critical remarks come from David's mother Olga who wishes for him to leave Alison for "a nice Russian girl."

An insider opened up to Heat magazine about it, spilling: "She thinks Alison is way too old for David and doesn't like all the attention her TV fame has brought to her son.

"She's uncomfortable that her son is with someone who has so much more financial power than him. Olga's traditional values don't sit well with their relationship. She's told him in no uncertain terms that he must end it."

Despite these sentiments, David reportedly remains unaffected by his mother's outspoken criticism.

While some might not be on board with the relationship, Alison's 19 year old son Aidan from her previous marriage to Noureddine Boufaied has given his thumbs up.

He shared his thoughts on the Parenting Hell podcast hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe: "The person who I am seeing at the moment, he is on his Instagram. And is like: 'Yeah I like him, he's not too in your face.' Aidan is on it."

Aidan's first impression was positive when they met, as Alison recounted: "When they actually met, [Aidan] really liked him, he really thought he was lovely, so that's nice. Thank goodness for that! Because normally Aidan hates anybody I date, literally just not interested."

Alison, however, feels sure about her relationship with David.

A source close to Heat magazine added their bit, saying: "Alison is confident she's not making a big massive mistake or that she'll make a fool of herself and luckily she's got good friends she can lean on for support."

Recently, Alison put a stop to rumours suggesting she and David had split after speculation arose.

Curious fans, trying not to pry too much, posed several questions to Alison during a social media Q&A, but the celeb kept her cards close to her chest.

When asked if she was happy, Alison responded coyly: "Happiness comes from within."
