James Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s brother, tied the knot to his fiancée Alizée Thevenet over the weekend.

The private ceremony took place in Bormes-les-Mimosas in the south of France, and was attended by family, friends and pups of course.

Announcing the nuptials on Instagram, he wrote: “Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village or Bormes-les-Mimosas.

“Words cannot describe how happy I am.”

Middleton announced his engagement to 32-year-old finance analyst, Thevenet, months later by sharing a series of snaps and a heartwarming video of an underwater kiss between the pair. “I asked @alizeethevenet a question the other day…And she said…” he captioned the post. He is understood to have proposed in the Lake District.

Middleton previously told Insider that being a dog lover was "one requirement" for dating him. When we asked if Thevenet was fond of canines, he said, "Fortunately she is...she loves dogs."

In one photo, which marked Thevenet's debut on his Instagram feed, the pair were seen smiling on a boat. James, who is known to harbour a love of sailing, captioned the post, "Sail away with me."

Here’s what you need to know about James Middleton’s fiancée.

Who is Alizée Thevenet?

French-born Alizée Thevenet is currently based in London as director of TreasurySpring, a fin tech company which “builds new digital pipelines for multi-trillion dollar wholesale money markets,” according to her LinkedIn profile.

She has had an international upbringing, previously living in Germany, Indonesia, Chile, France and Belgium, and also speaks Spanish, making her trilingual.

While she reportedly completed an accounting and finance undergraduate degree in Brussels, she later pursued a masters in investment and finance at Queen Mary, University of London.

Her father Jean-Gabriel is a retired diplomat and he previously told the Daily Mail that her unusual name takes after a tropical wind known in French as the Alize. He said: “My daughter is named after my first love which is wind-surfing and the Alize wind that fills the sails.”

How did she and James Middleton meet?

Although Thevenet’s father said that he was “not allowed to say how they met, to give away their secrets”, a family friend previously told the Daily Mail that the pair had met in a bar. The unnamed woman said, “James offered her a drink and Alizee did not know who he was until her friend told her.”

She continued: “They have been dating for more than six months now and she has already spent time with his family in the family cottage. Things are getting serious between them.”

Thevenet has been spotted holidaying with the Middleton clan and their extended family in St Bart’s a number of times, where Pippa and her husband James Matthews are known to frequent, as the Matthews’ father owns the Eden Rock resort in the area.
