Allentown Mayor and Trump Staffer Clash Over Road Closure for Trump Rally
The mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and a Donald Trump campaign staffer clashed over road closures on October 29, ahead of the candidate’s rally later that evening.
Video filmed by @maggiesweet.live in the early-morning hours on Tuesday shows a Trump staffer having an expletive-ladened interaction with the city’s mayor, Matt Tuerk.
In the video, the staffer can be heard saying the city told organizers they could close off roads and place portable toilets at the intersection of 7th Street and Hamilton directly in front of the rally venue, PPL Arena.
PPL Arena is located catty-corner to the Lehigh County Government Center, which was open for early voting and ballot drop off on October 29. Tuerk can be heard suggesting that barricades be moved to a different location, and later said his concern was that voters would be obstructed from accessing the polling place.
“My biggest concerns with yesterday’s Trump event were that we would protect EVERYONE’S access to the ballot request and drop off. Working with the event organizers, we were able to do the best we could,” Tuerk wrote in a post on X. He added that early voting was extended by one day. Credit: @maggiesweet.live via Storyful
