Alligator Fed 22-Pound Turkey at Idaho Reptile Preserve

An animal expert fed a 22-pound turkey to an alligator at a reptile reserve in Melba, Idaho, on November 19, ahead of Thanksgiving.

Video shared by wildlife TV personality Corbin Maxey shows his 450-pound alligator, known as Soni, snatch a huge turkey from Maxey’s hand, before bringing it back into the water to finish gobbling it up.

Speaking to Storyful, Maxey said that he’s been feeding Soni a turkey each Thanksgiving for years, and often does Thanksgiving-themed diets for his other animals.

“It provides him with a larger prey item than usual and it’s great enrichment for him,” Maxey said. “It switches up his routine and allows him to use his natural instincts to try and swallow a big meal like a 22 lb. turkey,” he added. Credit: Corbin Maxey via Storyful
