Netflix have announced that season two of Altered Carbon is now in production and there's been some big additions to the cast.

Back in July of last year it was announced that Anthony Mackie (who plays the Falcon/Sam Wilson in Avengers: Infinity War ) had been cast as new Takeshi Kovacs, replacing Joel Kinnaman.

But Mackie won't be the only Marvel alumni featuring in season two. Simone Missick, who played Detective Misty Knight in Netflix's Luke Cage has been added to the cast.

Simone will be joined by another actor from a recently cancelled Marvel Netflix show, Dina Shihabi, who appeared in Daredevil as Neda Kazemi. Dina is also well-known for her role as Hanin Ali in Jack Ryan.

Season two will also see Renée Elise Goldsberry and Chris Conner reprising their roles as Quellcrist Falconer and Poe.

Based on the series of books by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is set in a future where people's consciousness can be put into new human 'sleeves'.

Earlier this month showrunner Laeta Kalogridis had hinted that season two would be completely different to the first outing.

"My first thought is that we want to do something surprising with the second season that is not in the same place with the same people," she said. "I think the universe of these books gives you more latitude."

Altered Carbon season one is available to stream on Netflix now.
